ASH KETCHUM
Hometown:Pallet Town
First Appearence In Episode:Pokemon! I choose You
Ash Ketchum (Japanese: サトシ Satoshi) is the main character of both the Pokémon anime and is believed to be based on the protagonist of the first generation Pokémon games. He is also the main character of The Electric Tale of Pikachu, Ash and Pikachu and Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl mangabased on the anime.
He shares his Japanese name—which can be taken to mean "wisdom" or "reason" (智)—with the creator of the Pokémon franchise, Satoshi Tajiri. His English surname is a pun of the English motto, "Gotta catch 'em all!."
Veronica Taylor voiced both Ash and his mom in the first few seasons.
Over the fourteen years he's been out on his journey, he's only caught 40 out of the 649 pokemon in the pokemon universe.
He's also been 10 years old since the beginning of the series!
Clefairy was Ash's original Pokémon
Pokémon first ventured out of the Gameboy videogames as a comic book and not a TV show. In the comic book, Clefairy was chosen as the main Pokémon character, in order to make the series "more engaging" (translation: Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle have no personality).
However, when the series was ready for a TV adaptation, the marketers decided that Clefairy wasn't cuddly or yellow enough. They replaced it with Pikachu, who they thought could be identified more easily by younger viewers. In fact, the only other yellow and cuddly character on TV was Winnie the Pooh. Interestingly, both Pokémon can only evolve using a special stone. (source:http://www.omgfacts.com/lists/46/9-Facts-Even-Pokemon-Superfans-Don-t-Know)
